This is a pic isolated on white.

I’m wasting my time with these submissions and their inane rejections. It’s driving me crazy, since I have to keep track and reupload it all over. Here’s my email to the support team:

Are your reviewers a team of bots, or simply people of low intelligence? I keep getting insane rejection reasons.
Yes, the content is similar. I clearly state that it’s isolated on white. As a designer and a purchaser of many, MANY stock photos I can assure you that as a customer I do want the same thing isolated on white, as well as a pic with the background so I might use it as is. The description and the tags clearly state it’s the same version ISOLATED ON WHITE.
As for Pandora’s Box, you do know there’s a little myth of that name for about 3000 years or so, right? I don’t care if there’s a company with the name Pandora. There’s a million companies with literally every single Greek Mythology name. I want to put them in the description and you will allow me to do that. If your reviewer does not understand that, it’s not my problem.
You keep wasting my time with these stupid rejection reasons. It’s the exact reason why I stopped uploading a year ago, and why I might stop now as well.
I understand that you get spammed every day with massive submissions, but you’re hindering actual creators work.
Fix your team, fix your rejection reasons, and if I want to use a GREEK MYTHOLOGY NAME THAT HAPPENS TO HAVE A COMPANY TRADEMARK TO IT, I DON’T CARE SINCE IT’S CLEARLY NOT A TRADEMARK VIOLATION.
Thank you.

I don’t know if I can keep submitting these every day only to get them kicked back for stupid reasons, wasting my time and forcing me to go back to things I had thought were finished and done. I like to try out things so I can put them in my workflow, and I want them to work. I will not accept random rejections that make no sense. I might try and find another photo stock selling company that hires real people.

EDIT: I got a reply. The person is an actual human and I was satisfied with the justifications. But my issue still stands, I will make bland generic stuff that will pass muster but I might not tolerate this waste of my time. I’m used to posting something and it staying there, not needing to go back to see if it was approved. That’s why I own my sites, and that’s why I hate depending on the whims of some corporation.

I don’t agree with any of the excuses but I’ll accept them.

Hi George
My name is Andrew and I’ve been a Shutterstock contributor for a number of years. Shutterstock have outsourced the first level of help to a firm called Directly who I work for. This means that for your security I cannot see any of the confidential information in your account but I can see your portfolio and I should be able to help with your problem.

The reviewers have clearly been told to interpret the rules for submission very strictly and as a customer as well you will understand how frustrating it is to search through pages of nearly identical pictures to get some variety. As a result of the customer complaints the rules about ‘similar’ now mean that just changing the background colour is no longer acceptable.

Shutterstock also need to protect themselves and you from actions brought by companies if their name is associated with commercial picture without their consent. I quite understand about the word Pandora but in the litigious society we now live in there is a need to avoid possible court cases.
